MIR Centre Samokov

The mission of the foundation is to consecrate opportunities for personal and community development, health preservation and social welfare as well as to create and promote effective approaches for successful integration of socially isolated communities.

We develop and implement successful models for early childhood development, health promotion and integrated services which break the vicious circle of poverty and social isolation. Breaking the circle is mission possible thanks to our successfully working Model for integrated development (MIR) for the Roma community.
We work with a multi-ethnic and diversified team made of psychologists, social workers, educators, medics and associates from the Roma community.

Because we are convinced that the complex approach aimed simultaneously towards the development of the individual and the community, is the only possible way forward.
That is why MIR Centre Samokov is working with Model of integrated development (MIR) by “Health and social development” foundation (HESED). This is the first model which was based on the long-term professional work in a Roma community which offers a system of integrated services which aim to solve the problem with the Roma integration.

The children in our programs increase their educational achievements 5 times in comparison with children in the community who have no access to programs for early childhood education and development.

The complex and long-term work with parents from the Roma neighborhood in Samokov guarantees their more successful realization and social inclusion. And the more competent a parent is, the better they care for their children.

The priority in our work is quality early childhood development, increasing children’s school readiness and developing their life and social skills.

We mobilize the community for a supportive social environment through peer leaders trainings, field work of Roma community associates and through organizing various campaigns.
